Profile

Postdoctoral Fellow.

Modelling cellular life with polymers. Loves nature and animals.

Negar is a postdoc at the Physics department and Icelab since August 2018. She is interested in understanding the mechanisms of macromolecular phenomena in physical biology and polymer physics. She completed her PhD studies at SISSA in Trieste (Italy), where she used polymer simulations to better understand how entangled ring polymers behave in concentrated solutions. Apart from industrial applications and relevance in biology, these systems have rich physical behaviours (e.g. rheology), that has attracted physicists for years.

In Icelab, she will apply her polymer modelling skills to problems in cell biology – the DNA-folding problem – in close collaboration with experimental researchers in epigenetics.

In her spare time, she likes to hang out with friends and to take long walks in nature.
