Profile

Research Engineer.

Communications. Into fusion of art and science, especially comics.

Tatyana works at the intersection of science, communication, and culture. She started out as a public relations specialist in a world of culture and arts but was driven by her passion for science and climate change into science communication.

She was born in Russia, where she received her degree in public relations from MGIMO University in Moscow. Being driven by the sociocultural aspects of communications, she got a master’s degree in cultural management from the University of Manchester, UK. In 2015, Tatyana moved to Sweden to study a science-based approach for communicating effectively in situations of high stress, like wildfires or earthquakes and finished a master’s programme in disaster risk management and climate change adaptation at Lund University in 2017. Since then, Tatyana’s main field of professional interests is climate change awareness and science communication.

Tatyana moved to Umeå in 2018 and joined IceLab and The Climate Impacts Research Center at Umeå University. Tatyana is passionate about communicating science through art, especially through comic books and animation, and believes that art and science go well together.

Tatyana will cover for Gabrielle Beans while she is on maternity leave.
